One of Those Days

You know those special days where you have an extra pep in your new shoe step? The days where you think, I really got it right today. It’s amazing how much of an effect clothes can have on my confidence (ideal for a day of  back-to-back meetings). I’m having one of those days thanks to a few sale purchases from J.Crew (sweater and shoes) and an oldie, but goodie from Nordstrom (denim skirt). What’s better than a new pair of (striped, ankle tie wedge) shoes and (slinky peach) a sweater?

An antique ring from my grandmother is just enough bling for an otherwise preppy look.

I don’t normally post Instagram photos on here, but today started off on an exceptional note. For more outfits of the day and other snapshots, follow me here. Happy hump day! xx

Black or Blush, That is the Question

Do you ever get stuck when it comes to which shoes to wear? I do…fairly often, actually. Shoes are as important as clothes, so choosing footwear can be a tough decision. For tomorrow’s outfit – a nighttime remix of this daytime look –  I had a hard time picking between my two favorites. On the left are black ankle strap heels from Zara that are flattering and go with everything. Or, the strappy, vintage Azzedine Alaia numbers in blush satin (with a red heel) on the right.

What do you guys think? Find out what I ended up wearing tomorrow (hint: I went for fun).

Selecting shoes might be less of a question if I didn’t have so many. This week’s conquest:

These striped espadrilles were on crazy sale at J.Crew (extra 40% off already discounted items).

Happy hump day! xx

I have a shoe problem. Shoes completely transform an outfit and can make or break it, which is why they are my favorite to shop for.

When I saw these over-the-top bubble gum pink heels with rubber spikes and crystals by Max Kibardin I was stopped in my tracks. Well, if you count opening dozens of internet browsing tabs to catch up on news and going through them all, sprinting (I do), then yes they stopped me. My eyes zeroed in on these beauties in the midst of a May Vogue  Japan fashion spread. They yelled out, “hey, you should be sprinting in us, not those crappy things you have on your feet!” And they were right. I’d slip these showstoppers on with a simple outfit of dark skinny jeans and a crisp white collared shirt.

I’m almost tempted to file them under home décor. How good would they look just displayed on a bookcase?

I did some digging and found out that the designer grew up in Serbia then moved to Paris and Milan to work in fashion. He’s worked with fashion greats like Karl Lagerfeld, Reem Acra, Chado Ralph Rucci and J. Mendel. Kibardin recently moved to the U.S. to expand his business and did an interview with Vogue.com. He explained his designs, “I want my shoes to be classic—but with a sophisticated twist. I want to shock, but in a chic way.” I love how his shoes have classic shapes, but also incorporate unexpected materials and elements.
